Father's Day: A Different Kind of Victory
In 2023, Ben Howard shared an incredible transformation: after struggling with his weight, chronic nerve pain, and the aftermath of surgery, he lost 60 pounds with GOLO and gained a new understanding of how to take care of his health.
Today, Ben’s story is still one of strength, but in a different way.
A New Chapter in Ben’s Journey
The husband, father, and grandfather is facing new challenges. Since moving to a farm more than two years ago, he has undergone two additional spinal surgeries. Recovery has not been easy, and some days are spent on the couch. But through it all, one thing has remained steady.
“Despite everything I’ve been through, one thing I have been able to keep under control is my weight,” Ben says. “I’m living proof that you can maintain your weight.”
Healthy Habits That Last

For Ben, losing weight was only part of his journey. It also helped him build habits he could rely on, even when life became unpredictable.
“GOLO taught me how to be disciplined to manage my weight,” Ben says. “It really helped me learn how to think about food.”
With his physical activity limited during recovery, Ben is especially grateful for the weight he lost and the habits that have helped him maintain it.
“I know that I would not be doing nearly as well as I am had I not lost the weight,” he says.
Support That Helped Ben Keep Going
This Father’s Day, Ben’s story is not about a perfect path or a simple finish line. It is about the kind of strength that often happens quietly: staying committed, leaning on the habits that helped you get healthier, and accepting support from the people who love you most.
“It can be very depressing,” Ben admits. “It’s been two months since my second spinal surgery, and I don’t know how I would have survived without the help of my daughters and my wife.”
For many fathers and grandfathers, strength is not just about what they can carry for others. Sometimes, it is also about allowing others to help carry them. Ben has found that support in the people closest to him, including his wife and daughters.
This Father’s Day, Ben’s journey is a reminder that the habits built while taking care of your health can continue to matter in unexpected ways. The progress he made with GOLO has given him a stronger foundation as he faces new health challenges, supported by the family that continues to stand beside him.
