Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 2 Tbsp and 2 tsp butter, melted
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 3 eggs (separate yolks from whites in two separate bowls)
- Preheat your waffle iron. In a bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and sea salt together. Make a well (hole) in the center and drop in the milk, melted butter, applesauce, and egg yolks. Mix together until well combined. Set to the side.
- In another bowl, using a mixer, beat the egg whites until fluffy and forming stiff peaks. Carefully fold the egg whites into the batter. Do not over mix.
- Follow your manufacturers instructions with your waffle iron to make the batter into waffles.
- Serve with 2 protein portions for a complete breakfast!
