GOLO Unveils "Fit Pit" at John R. Downes Elementary School
As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to invest in the health and well-being of our local community, GOLO has proudly partnered with Project Fit America (PFA) to unveil a state-of-the-art outdoor "Fit Pit" at John R. Downes Elementary School. This innovative fitness space, fully funded by GOLO, is designed to enhance physical education through interactive workout stations tailored for children, promoting active lifestyles and comprehensive wellness.
At the unveiling, which took place on June 5th, 2025, 4th and 5th-grade students were joined by physical education teacher Connie Spedden, PTA leadership, and GOLO President Jennifer Brooks to officially debut the space with a fitness demonstration showcasing exercises that can help build strength and flexibility.
“I was so excited that we were able to show everyone the wonderful benefits of the Fit Pit,” said Connie Spedden. “Words can't express how appreciative we are that GOLO presented us with the opportunity. The Fit Pit will have lasting positive effects for generations to come for the students, families, and community at large!”
As the first facility of its kind in Delaware, the "Fit Pit" transcends traditional playground concepts, functioning as an innovative fitness zone engineered to make movement both enjoyable and functional for children. This significant donation complements GOLO's prior contributions of indoor fitness equipment and programming, ensuring that students have consistent access to high-quality fitness opportunities, regardless of weather conditions.

This initiative also reflects a major milestone in GOLO’s growing partnership with PFA, a national nonprofit known for its commitment to improving school fitness programs, underscoring a shared vision for empowering youth through physical activity.
During the unveiling ceremony, the students presented Brooks with a commemorative plaque, expressing their sincere appreciation for GOLO’s generous funding of the Project Fit America "Fit Pit." This gesture powerfully symbolizes the community's embrace of this impactful health and wellness initiative.
GOLO is dedicated to supporting the holistic health of communities, and the "Fit Pit" at John R. Downes Elementary is a testament to this commitment. We are confident that this new outdoor fitness environment will inspire countless children to embrace physical activity, contributing to a healthier and more active future.
