GOLO Donates $20K to Support Local Health and Wellness Initiatives
GOLO announced $10,000 donations to two Delaware charities: Special Olympics Delaware and the Food Bank of Delaware. The effort continues the company’s commitment to supporting community-based health and wellness initiatives throughout the U.S.
“We’re delighted to support the important work of these two mission-driven organizations,” says GOLO President Jennifer Brooks. “Their commitment to the well-being of people in the local community is commendable, and we are proud to contribute to those efforts.”
Headquartered in Newark, Delaware, GOLO empowers individuals and communities by helping them take control of their health and wellness. The company’s donations to Special Olympics Delaware and the Food Bank of Delaware will support a range of programming, including nutrition education, fitness programs, and food assistance.
The Food Bank of Delaware provides nutritious foods to Delawareans in need and facilitate long-term solutions to the problems of hunger and poverty through community education and advocacy. The Food Bank strives to think beyond traditional hunger-relief methods and provide programs that give low-income people the skills needed to earn a living wage so that they no longer have to rely on support from agencies like them. “We are so grateful for this generous donation,” said Food Bank of Delaware Chief Development Officer Larry Haas. “GOLO’s generosity will enable us to provide 30,000 nutritious meals to Delawareans struggling to put meals on the table. Ensuring that food-insecure Delawareans have access to fresh foods for good health is a priority for us at the Food Bank of Delaware.”
Special Olympics of Delaware provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for more than 4,200 children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. "Our partnership with GOLO is a natural fit given their commitment to health and wellness and our own efforts to incorporate in our athletes’ mindset that the starting point for an optimal athletic performance is ensuring a healthy mind and body,” said Ann Grunert, executive director of Special Olympics Delaware.
“GOLO’s sponsorship enables us to develop and implement overall training and wellness plans that will not only improve the athletic performances of our athletes short-term, but positively impact their long-term overall health and well-being.”
