Dying Easter Eggs With Natural Dye
Easter is already here! That means dying Easter eggs! This year, we challenge you to use natural food-based dyes instead of the artificial ones bought in stores. Here’s why –
Artificial dyes are often made of petroleum, can contain carcinogens, and can cause a range of issues, such as:
• Learning impairment
• Aggressive behavior
• Chromosomal damage
In other words, there is simply no need for them and what they cause, when we have plenty of foods and natural substances that can provide the colors we need!
Red- beet juice, beet powder, pomegranate juice
Orange- carrot juice, carrot powder, paprika
Yellow- turmeric juice, ground turmeric, saffron
Green- liquid chlorophyll, matcha powder, parsley juice, spinach powder
Blue- red cabbage juice, any purple colorant + baking soda
Purple- purple sweet potatoes, purple carrots, pure blueberry juice
Brown- espresso, cocoa powder, cinnamon
Black- activated charcoal powder
